Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)2019-07-08T10:59:54-05:00

User authentication process requiring two or more “factors,” or methods of verification. Factors are defined by three user distinctions: something the user knows, has and/or is. Similar to older term, “2-factor authentication” (2FA).

  • What the user knows would include a password or a PIN.
  • What the user has would be a token or cryptographic device.
  • What the user is would include a biometric, such as fingerprint or facial map.
