This Month in Cyber Security: May 2020 (2:22)

by | May 26, 2020 | Security

As COVID-19 continues to change the way organizations work, our monthly cyber security webinar will help you to understand how those changes effect business security. This month we focused on two key areas to help guide you through this changing landscape: Office 365 Security and Ransomware.

Office 365 Security

As a certified Microsoft Gold Partner, we are dedicated to giving our customers the most accurate guidance possible on Microsoft products. A few recommendations we discussed concerning Office 365 & security are:

  1. Turn on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Admins
  2. Start tracking logins and setup alerts
  3. Remove legacy protocols

Ransomware

Additionally, as we discussed controlling and monitoring access to your Office 365 client, we reviewed Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) safety as it relates to ransomware. Unfortunately, as we understand cyber security and threats, a breach is inevitable. Furthermore, the ways a beach can occur vary greatly. A simple way to avoid a breach is through securing RDP access. Here are some key takeaways from that portion of our discussion:

  1. Remove direct RDP connections
  2. Protect RDP connections with MFA
  3. Detect RDP connections and audit access
