On September 12th, we hosted our annual Taste of Technology event! We owe a huge thank you to everyone who joined us this year at the Oak Brook Promenade. Three of our partners we invited to discuss cyber security in SMBs were: Veeam, Cisco Meraki, Webroot. We also invited our keynote speaker, Joseph Crimmins from Serve & Protect, to discuss the importance of physical security in the workplace.
To kick off the day, Joseph Crimmins gave a detailed presentation about the importance of workplace safety. Joe discussed the importance of preserving the physical security of your office with the basic rule of thumb: Run, Hide, Fight. With the help of Peters & Associates’ very own, Bruce Ward, we also learned that physical and cyber security go hand-in-hand.

As our customers began their tour, one of the stops was at McCormick & Schmick’s with Veeam. With bad actors and cyber criminals lurking around every corner, having your data backed up and secured is critical. Blake von Brockdorff gave an extremely insightful presentation about how Veeam Software can help. Implementing Veeam Software with a well-tested disaster recovery plan, ensures your data is safely backed up and easily recoverable.

Another presentation that our customers enjoyed at the Taste of Technology, was a demo by Matt Lojkovic and Justin Putman. In their presentation, Matthew and Justin covered the importance of integrating cameras into your company’s IT stack. With Meraki’s cameras you can monitor your office, main entrances, and parking lots all from the comfort of your desk! If something should happen, you can always rewind to review the incident as well.

Last, but certainly not least, guests stopped by La Barra for a very informative presentation by Max Wicker. Max discussed the importance of cyber security in the workplace by demonstrating the costly effects it can have on your business. From bad actors to sketchy websites, cyber criminals are always looking for ways to disrupt your system. With Webroot installed on your devices, you are proactively fighting threats before they have the chance to wreak havoc on your network.
